God Is Truthful
"The
man who accepted it has certified that GOD
is Truthful."
John
3:33
John testifies that Jesus is truthful, it's his certification that we see here. John speaks the truth to certify the truth to us. John is telling his disciples that GOD has sent JESUS who is full of truth to us, to give us truth. What I mean by this is that JESUS came to earth to speak the words of GOD, and the words of GOD are truth.
How many times do we start off a story telling our friends "truth is" or "to tell you the truth," But how many times our we telling the truth? Are we just telling the truth as we know it, or are we telling them the truth from our point of view? Think about this for a second, GOD doesn't just tell us something to placate us, He gives us truth whether it's what we want to hear or not. Only His truths are eternal, His truths are His promises to us.
GOD doesn't lie when He gives us a promise, He comes through. How many times have you given your word, said you'd do something, and then not do it? Not only not do it, but not even feel guilty about breaking a promise? I can remember when I was younger and in order to get extra spending cash I had chores to do around my parents home, I gave my word that I would do these chores each week and there would be weeks when I wouldn't do the chores and not only that, I took the money knowing full well that I had not earned it and didn't feel bad about it at all.
What if JESUS
did things the same way? How would we feel about the promises we
find in His word? I don't think we'd
take the things He's promised us with any
seriousness. Thankfully GOD is truthful, He
doesn't just give us half empty promises. His
words are truth and what's more His WORD is
truth. John
14:6 Tells us that He
is the truth and the only way to the Father.
Proverbs
12:22 tells us that GOD
delights in men that tell the truth, but detests lying lips. GOD
keeps His word, how much more do you think He
wants us to keep ours. We are only as good as our word comes to
mind. JESUS kept His
words so we should strive to do the same. Jesus
speaks the truth, and only the truth.
The truth has been shown to you through the Son, what are you going to get up and do about it?
"All who call upon the Name of the LORD will be saved."
