Unfailing Love

"Sow for yourselves righteousness,
reap the fruit of unfailing love,
and break up your unplowed ground,
for it time to seek the LORD until He comes
and showers righteousness on you."
Hosea 10:12

 

The one thing I want to focus on is brokenness, because without first breaking ground and softening up the soil there is no way to plant a harvest that will grow properly and produce fruit.  How do we break up the ground in the first place?  It's hard, and I've tried a pickaxe and a shovel and nothing seems to work.  First we need to soften the soil, and that's were GOD comes into the picture.

This verse tells us to seek the LORD, why? (He comes and showers righteousness on you).  When we ask for the LORD to shower our hearts with His righteousness that softens the soil in our heart to allow us to plant the seed.  God's righteousness is the seed that we are seeking to plant in our heart and then to grow in us.

If you read on in this chapter you see what happens if you plant wickedness in your heart instead of the righteousness of the LORD. Everything will come to ruin, crumble up and fade away.  Not for me thanks, I'd rather plant the seed of GOD'S righteousness in my heart and reap His unfailing love on the first try, rather that sow wickedness and reap evil.

The truth has been shown to you through the Son, what are you going to get up and do about it?

"All who call upon the Name of the LORD will be saved."
