5 minute praise 108 - Shine

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. 

 Have you ever tried to define what a good deed is?  Pause for a short moment and formulate a thought.  To be good in the world's eyes, an action should help someone, be a sacrifice to the doer, cost something and bring about a good result. 

God has an additional criterion:  To be truly good, a deed must be initiated by Him.  That is the only way we can truly do good and please our God.  Jesus said that the works that He did were done by the Father that was in Him (See John 14:10).  If Jesus could make that statement, how much more should we be relying on the Father in us!

 When we do, the world sees God, not us.  They see the Glory of the Father through His offspring!  The result is a great PR campaign for God.  Actually, you and I are the only version of the Bible some people will ever read!  Let's stop right now (if you can) and ask God to work through us so that the world can taste, smell, touch, hear and see God through our good deeds! 

Then our Father will get what He so richly deserves:  Everyone Praising Him!
